Sri Sri Ravi Shankar will visit Bodhgaya on January 20 to inaugurate an Art of Living ashram near the Mahabodhi Mahavihara.

The spiritual leader will be in the state for four days during which he will spend two days in Gaya and two in Patna.

The ashram, to be inaugurated on Friday, is spread over 14 acres and situated a kilometre from the Mahabodhi temple. It is one of the ambitious projects undertaken by the Art of Living Foundation.

“The ashram will serve as a centre for stress elimination and meditation programmes. It will undertake many humanitarian projects in future across Bihar and adjacent states,” said Meera Singh, one of the members of the organisation, at a news meet today.

“The ashram will have a rural programme development centre to train youths and children from rural areas and make them self-reliant. The meditation hall and the lodging facilities at the ashram will be sufficient for over 1,000 people. It would also have an ayurvedic clinic, a panchkarma centre, a gaushala (cowshed) with over 100 cows, a nursery with medicinal plants, ATM booths, a post office and a travel desk to assist visitors,” she added.

Sri Sri will attend a mahasatsang — Aashirvad — at Veterinary College in Patna on January 22.
